Cookies

A cookie is a very small piece of information that a web server can store temporarily with your web browser. A cookie is essentially your identification card, and cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. Remember, it is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you.

How are cookies useful at ASD?

Cookies are useful because they allow your browser to remember specific information that the web server can later retrieve, such as log-in information.

How do I enabling cookies?

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies by modifying the settings in your browser. However, you may not be able to use all the interactive features of our site if cookies are disabled. Instructions are given below for the most popular browsers. If you browser is not on this list please consult your browsers documentation.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x and above

  • Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.
  • On the 'Privacy" tab click the "Sites" button
  • Type in the "Address of Web Site" box:
  • 'myasd.com'
  • Click ALLOW.
  • Apply the settings and close all Internet Explorer windows.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x

  • Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.
  • Click on the "Privacy" tab.
  • Click "Custom Level" button.
  • Scroll down to the "Cookies" section.
  • Set "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" to "Enable".
  • Set "Allow per-session cookies" to Enable".
  • Click "OK".

Mozilla Firefox

  • Select 'Preferences' from the 'Edit' menu
  • Click the 'Advanced' link
  • Scroll down to the 'Cookies' section
  • To enable cookies select 'Accept all cookies' (or 'Enable all cookies')
  • Click 'OK'

Safari

  • Click Safari on the top menu.
  • Select Preferences.
  • Make sure the Security tab is selected.
  • Next to 'Accept Cookies' select "Always".

Netscape 7.x

  • Select 'Preferences' from the 'Edit' menu
  • Double click the 'Privacy & Security' link so you can see all the sub-menus
  • Click the 'cookies' link
  • To enable cookies select 'Enable cookies based on privacy settings' (or 'Enable all cookies')
  • Click 'OK'

Opera 7.0

  • Select 'Preferences' from the 'File' menu
  • Click the 'Privacy' link
  • To enable cookies click the box next to 'Enable cookies'
  • Click 'OK'

Can cookies spread viruses or read data on my hard drive?

Cookies cannot be used as a virus, to retrieve data from your hard drive, to access your email address, or to steal sensitive information about you.

Can other sites read cookie information from ASD?

Our cookies can only be read by our site, no other site can read them.

Do cookies affect my privacy or security?

The only way that any private information could be in your cookie file would be if you personally gave that information to our web server in the first place. Also, each cookie is marked with information about what web server it is for, so the information will not be sent to any other web server. There is absolutely no way for a web server to get access to any private information about you or your system through cookies.
